Cathryn & Will come to visit

Cathryn, who has been living in Brisbane, came down with son Will to visit Eliza. The real reason for the visit was to enroll Will in pre-school in Sydney as they are just about to move back - YIPPEE !!!

Will has a little sister so is well practiced at taking photos with little girls. Eliza on the other hand, doesn't look quite as comfortable.

Play day

We had a play day at the Cooke-Stevenson house on Friday. Of the 11 offspring from the Famous Five (Lyneham High girls), 6 were present on the day. From left: Clare Smart with Stephanie Smart (1), Harper Cooke (2), Seamus Smart (3), Beatrix Cooke (4), Lily Cooke (5), Cheryl Stevenson, Eliza Spencer (6) with Peta Stevenson.

Cheryl (aka Super Gran) who after triplet grand-daughters and a new grand-daughter born in February, is still keen to have a cuddle with Eliza

Harper Cooke is a multi-tasker just like her mother, Peta

Third mirthday

This was taken on March 26th, Eliza's thrid mirthday. Here she is practicing sitting up. She's getting the hang of it, but still needs a bit of help.

Visiting Professor

Professor Di Yerbury and her friend Mercedes came to visit us. It just happened to be Di's birthday so we celebrated with lots of cake - not that we need an excuse to eat cake at our place.

Di was SO generous to Eliza ! She bought Eliza her first clown, her first stroller (for dolls or in this case, teddy) and her first set of red sheepskin boots for winter - modelled here by teddy.

Eliza thought she might like to be a professor one day too.

12 weeks today !

Eliza was 12 weeks old on 20 March. She has her favourite hoody draped over her because underneath she's just wearing a nappy having dispensed with her other clothes (due to a major blow out whilst visiting the National Portrait Gallery).
Note to Mummy: always bring spare clothes !!!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Very early on March 19th, the day before Daddy's birthday...

...while I was still asleep...

... and there was dew on the ground, Daddy went on a balloon ride.
It was a surprise for his birthday.

Daddy had fun helping fill up the balloon with air...

... and when the balloon was ready...

... the balloon gently lifted off the ground and left Mummy and me way down below.

Daddy's balloon sailed gently over the lake...

... over the Governor General's house and other Canberra landmarks.

After about an hour of flying through the crisp morning Canberra air, the balloon landed gently in a nearby field with a very excited Daddy safe inside.

Eliza's first singing lesson

While in Canberra we had dinner with Helen, my former singing teacher, and her husband Lin. Eliza showed Helen how she can oooohhh and aaahhh and chatter away. She was clearly warming up for her first lesson.

E: See, I'm actually quite good at singing already !

As usual, the singing lesson ended with a nice glass of wine.

Canberra weekend

Our first night in Canberra was spent picnicing by the lake.
Jane provided delicious deli delights that kept us munching well into the evening.

Eliza gave the deli platter a miss and stuck to her staple milk shake.

Eliza x2

Today we had lunch with the other Eliza - Eliza Dulson, who is a gorgeous girl. Brian and I would be delighted if our Eliza turned out to be as lovely as Rachel & Peter's Eliza. Here Eliza is having her first cuddle with Eliza !

Eliza Dulson and Eliza Spencer

Rachel Dulson having a cuddle with Eliza Spencer at Bellevue Street (No. 17), just down the road from our new house at No. 3.

Daddy's little girl

Brian and Eliza sharing a special moment watching the rugby.
I'm not sure she's as in to rugby as her dad.

Each morning Brian brings Eliza into our room and sings songs to her. As you can see, she loves her Dad's singing, or maybe she's laughing because he makes up the words to nursery rhymes that he can't remember.

Lunch with the Gang of Four

Eliza in her party dress all ready for lunch with the Gang of Four (little girls and their parents).
I think Eliza might try ballet when she's older... she's already showing us 3rd position.
The Gang of Four - Daan with Lillian (youngest member of Gang of Four), Gareth & Leonie (Florence's parents), Brian and Leah (Lillian's mum).

Bathurst

We went to Bathurst to visit Uncle (Dr) Dan who is working at Bathurst Hospital for 10 weeks. Dan with Eliza in the living room of The Dairy where we stayed.
This is Dr Dan's house - a grand old house sub-divided into colonial styled bedsits for visiting doctors just 100m up the road from the hospital. Dan's room is at the front with the balcony (unfortunately not safe to use) with kitchen window on left and bathroom window on right.

Being in Bathurst we had to take a spin around the track at Mount Panorama. It is quite a view.

We visited Orange but it bucketed with rain all day so no photos other than this one taken at the Mount Conobolas Tea Rooms. I can recommend the date scones.

Neilsen Park

We tried Nielsen Park as an alternate coffee venue and it was a hit.
Here is Leonie and Florence is under there somewhere.

Here she is - Florence Elizabeth Grace Dyer

Our newest recruit, Leah, looks as though her new role as full time Mum is suiting her well. Lillian arrived on 4 February and as you can see, Leah is quickly catching up to the rest of us in her desire to turn "maternity leave" into "eternity leave". Work is SO over-rated !

Lillian, the most recent addition to the Gang of Four with enough hair for all of us.

...and having seen the view at Neilsen Park the day before, Eliza slept.
